The US Embassy in Beirut held its commemoration ceremony on October 23 to remember everyone who lost their lives on 23 Oct. 1983.

241 roses, each with the name of one of the fallen, were shared with members of the embassy community. The rose was left at the memorial and embassy members then matched the name to a photo on the "They Came in Peace. They Rest in Peace," banner that is currently being displayed in the consular waiting room.

The Commandant and Sergeant Major of the USMC recorded a breif video message for the anniversary.

It has been a challenging year in Lebanon, but on October 23 the embassy staffed paused work to read the names, remember their service and honor their sacrifice.
