March 3, 1961 - February 19, 2025
Jeffrey Dale Handy, beloved Marine, father, and devoted friend, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer that began in September. He was 63 years old.
A proud member of the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion and Beirut Veteran, Jeff attended the 40th Remembrance of the Beirut Bombing last year and reconnected with many of his Beirut Marine brothers. His fellow Marines remember him as a man who "was always in a good mood and always made time for his fellow Beirut Vets."
Jeff lived by the values of the Marine Corps throughout his life - honor, courage, and commitment. His welcoming spirit made newcomers feel instantly at home, greeting them with his signature bear hugs and infectious smile. Behind his strength was a tender heart, filled with compassion and unwavering loyalty to those he loved.
Known for his quick wit and endless jokes, Jeff rarely found himself speechless. His ability to bring laughter even during difficult times endeared him to everyone he met. After his father Jim's passing, Jeff continued visiting the care facility, bringing joy to residents and staff alike, even catering meals to show his appreciation for those who had cared for his father.
Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Stacy, children and sister, who take comfort knowing he is now at peace with a fully healed body, reunited with those Marines who went before him.
A celebration of his extraordinary life will be announced soon.
"Fair Winds and Following Seas my Brother. Until Valhalla, Semper Fidelis."
