BASE ACCESS – 2023
Persons desiring to go on base must follow the new rules. See https://www.lejeune.marines.mil/Base-Access/ for full details. Basically, you need proper ID for everyone in the vehicle, vehicle registration and insurance info. Here is a synopsis:
Must go through the Wilson Gate Visitor Center IN ADVANCE – this could take some time. Ensure you have ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION for the vehicle AND all persons that will be in your vehicle! There may be additional/other rules for only the Camp Gieger Service.
VISITOR CENTER
The Camp Lejeune Visitor Center is located in Bldg. TT-13 adjacent the Wilson Boulevard Gate, just off N.C. Highway 24. (see map) The visitor center processes all visitor applications except contractors and vendors. Those visitors who have not been pre-vetted can expect longer wait times at the visitor center. Visitors can also arrange for their sponsor to meet them at the visitor center parking lot to be escorted onto the installation under the Trusted Traveler Program.
The visitor center is open Monday through Friday: 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and closed on weekends and holidays.

From the Military Times:
Although entrance rules might vary by base, most operate under the same procedures as Wright-Patterson. To get base access there, eligible veterans first need to get their Veterans Health Identification Card (VHIC) from the enrollment office of their local VA. Usually, you just need to have a photo taken, and your new ID will show up in the mail within a few weeks.
But If the veteran doesn’t have a VHIC, they’ll be directed to go get one. Only with a VHIC can the veteran get access to the base.

All a veteran has to do is take their VHIC, along with valid state ID, driver's license or passport, to an installation's Pass and ID office (see above). If this office isn't outside the base, call ahead to find out where to go.
After a quick background check -- it takes longer to read this paragraph than it does to do the background check -- everything is all set for access. Just drive to the gate and show the VHIC.
From MCIEAST-MCB CAMLEJO 5530.25B, acceptable forms of ID [REAL ID compliant Driver’s Licenses, VA VHIC (if your VA healthcare card is old, it won’t be accepted!), US Passport, etc.]:
4. Acceptable Identity Source Documents. All documents must be current.
a. DoD CAC. The CAC simultaneously establishes identity, historic fitness, and purpose.
b. DoD USID. The USID establishes identity and generally establishes purpose.
c. Non-CAC Local or Regional Credential issued by MCB CAMLEJ or MCIEAST. These credentials simultaneously establish identity, historic fitness, and purpose for the installation in which they were issued.
d. REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or non-driver’s ID card issued by a State, territory, possession, or the District of Columbia. These credentials establish only proof of identity.
e. Enhanced driver’s license issued by state, territory, possession, or the District of Columbia. These credentials establish only proof of identity.
f. U.S passport or Passport Card. These credentials establish only proof of identity.
g. Foreign passport bearing an unexpired immigrant or non-immigrant visa or entry stamp. These credentials establish only proof of identity.
h. Foreign passport with a current arrival-departure record, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Form I-94 bearing the same name as the passport, and containing an endorsement of the alien's non-immigrant status indicating that status authorizes the alien to work for the employer.
i. VHIC. The VHIC simultaneously establishes identity and purpose. Any individual accompanying the VHIC holder must be vetted for determination of fitness and issued a DBIDS credential.
j. Non-Federal PIV-interoperable (PIV-I) card. The PIV-I establishes only identity.
k. The TWIC establishes only identity. l. Children under the age of 16 residing aboard MCB CAMLEJ may only sponsor a visitor with the approval of the children's legal guardian. For example, a 12 year old dependent child residing aboard the Installation cannot use their valid dependent DoD ID Card to sponsor their grandparent (with no other military affiliation) aboard the Installation. In this instance, the grandparent would be required to be identity proofed and vetted and obtain a DBIDS credential.
